Uncontroled misuse of LPG cooking gas

After waiving restriction on lpg subsidised domestic cylinders it is a matter of great surprise that domestic LPG gas cylinders are still being used for commercial purposes in roadside eateries, dhabas,restaurants etc etc. These cylinders are being sold at high premium to the illegal roadside eateries. They get it within 10-15 minutes on making a call to the gas agencies or some black markteers. Is it not shocking that a domestic consumer has to wait for few days to meet his urgent domestic requirment but this does not apply on the misusers . In Delhi, LPG has been playing important role in cooking in some areas where there is no other alternative fuel available for Delhiites like supply through underground pipes, the suplly of the refill needs to be made within 24 hours from the time of online refil booking system. Many consumers have reported for receipts of low gas or under weight capacity in cylinders and complained.Even after their making complaints to the Headquarters of the respective companies, no one bothers to look into the complaints to provide the same. The situation is worsening day by day and there is no respite to the consumers. Such problems have been highlighted in many other newspapers but the grievances of the consumers continue as before. We ,once again, reiterate that the supply of domestic LPG cylinders should be restricted to domestic consumers only and any commercial usage of domestic LPG cyclinders should be controlled with heavy hands. Even the rules provide for seven years imprisonment if the domestic LPG cylinders are used for commercial purposes. Anyone can be horrified to see that domestic LPG cylinders were being used with impunity by the roadside eatiers, dhabas and restaurants, marrige parties, private functions,halwai’s,catterers etc. etc . This can also be viewed in open space like streets and roads. It is causing heavy loss to the Oil companies as well as it is creating artificial scarcity of LPG cyclinders due to its diversion for commercial purposes and thus causes inconvenience to the householders who have to wait for days together to get their replacement refills after booking.
